Waikoloa Village Golf Club

Down on the lava-lined Kohala coastline, the Big Island resort courses match up with any collection on the planet – and directly overlooking them from an elevation of a thousand feet mauka is a gem of a public course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Waikoloa Village Golf Club augments the stunning ocean views with more distant views of four of the island’s five volcanoes (Kohala, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai) as well as Haleakala on Maui. The course offers generous wide fairways and greens but has strategic bunkers both shallow and deep around greens to test the accuracy for all levels of golfers. The islands second-oldest golf club is an easy drive from almost everywhere, it is less expensive then the resort courses and due to its elevation is usually cooler than those directly on the coastline.
